Inside Texas’ FREEDOM FIELD at the $45,000,000 Heritage Complex | Royal Key

Everything is bigger in Texas! Today Sports Dissected brings you to Alvin, Texas to tour Freedom Field at the Heritage Complex, one of the newest extracurricular and events complex in the state. Located just 30 miles from Houston, Heritage was designed and constructed to meet the current and future needs of one of the fastest-growing school district in Texas. As part of Heritage, Field Turf designed the exquisite Freedom Field, which is a one-of-a-kind attribute as it pertains to high school football. “There are very few fields like this in the country,” said Robert Wilcox, AISD director of facilities and special events. “Speaking with the Field Turf, this was the first one they were putting in that has a fiber that will not show glare at night. On most of your fields, when you turn on the lights, it looks like it might be wet. This is a new surface, where you won’t see any of that glare or shininess when you turn the lights on.
