Sri Lankans voted on Saturday to elect a new president as the country seeks to recover from its worst financial crisis in decades. The election features incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe, opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, and Marxist candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who has recently led in polls.

Voting closed peacefully, with over 17 million eligible citizens participating.
