A project board I put together recently.

Case/keycaps/mounting plate: Apple M0110
Switches: Zealios w/ Originative 55g springs
Controller: Teensy 2.0
PCB: None. Hand wired everything.

Surprisingly the M0110 mounting plate accepts MX style switches like Cherry and Gateron so the only custom parts to this build are the switches and wiring/controller. To use the stock keycaps on an MX switch I also designed and printed a plastic adapter from MX to SKCC.

I really like the 60% layout which has the classic vintage keyboard look while still being practical in day to day usage with a little remapping & adding layers.


If you are interested in doing these kinds of projects yourself, I would highly recommend Troy Fletcher's excellent video series where he walks you through all the steps of building a hand wired keyboard. It has helped me tremendously for this project and I can't thank him enough for sharing his knowledge and experience.

UPDATE
There were a number of requests for the 3D file for the adapter, so here it is!

Included are two files:

mx-to-tee_mod.obj: 3D file for an Alps male mount to MX female mount. With this you can use an MX-style switch with the original keycaps on the M0110

final_combined.obj: an 8x8 grid of the above 3D file for printing in bulk. If you use a service like Shapeways it is cheaper to print this way. My settings were "White Natural Versatile Plastic" with size 4.7cm (X) x 4.7cm (Y) x 0.924cm (Z) but your mileage may vary especially if you want to use a different material.
