We begin with John Amos (James Evans), the powerful patriarch whose recent passing in 2024 at 84 from heart failure marked the end of an era. We also remember the unforgettable Esther Rolle (Florida Evans), the strong and compassionate mother, who died in 1998 due to diabetes complications.

Ja’net DuBois (Willona Woods) and Johnny Brown (Nathan Bookman) brought charisma and comic relief, while Moses Gunn (Carl Dixon) and Ben Powers (Keith Anderson) left their own lasting marks through emotional, memorable performances.

Still with us in 2025 are Janet Jackson (Penny), Jimmie Walker (J.J.), BernNadette Stanis (Thelma), and Ralph Carter (Michael), who helped shape Good Times into one of TV’s most culturally impactful shows.
