Yes it is legal to get high in India: I tried Bhang (Hamp) lasssi (yoghurt drink) in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan state. It is also possible to buy "hamp" in to eat in cookies or ice cream and to smoke.

It was way more strong than I expected by so hilarious.

My best advice if you visit Jaisalmer is to buy a bhang lassi and hire a guide to visit the fort: time travel experience 100 guarantee. Have fun!

Ask for "medium" if it's your first time.
