The Canadian Arabic Orchestra - Abdel Wahab Medley - ميدلي عبدالوهاب

Black and White is a performance that captures some of the most famous faces of the golden age of Arabic cinema, and their most famous songs from their films. This concert was first performed as part of the Festival of Arabic Music and Arts (FAMA 2021) at Hammerson Hall in Mississauga on Friday, November 19, 2021.

Mohammed Abdel Wahab is called the godfather of modern Arabic music for his part in bringing the Arabic song to the modern day. Abdel Wahab was an actor, singer, producer, director, label manager, and carried many more titles in the Egyptian music industry. He is credited with discovering many musical talents, such as Laila Mourad and Warda. Abdel Wahab’s accolades are difficult to narrow down, but this medley celebrates some of his most popular songs from his films, which he composed, pitched, directed, and starred in.

لمحمد عبدالوهاب فضل كبير في النهضة الموسيقية العربية والنهضة التراثية العامة في العصر الحديث. أنشأ عبدالوهاب شركة أفلام، شركة إصدار أسطوانات، أخرج أفلامه وزهر في دور البطولة فيها، لحن أغاني أفلامه العديدة، وله الفضل في اكتشاف عدد كبير من المواهب الغنائية والتمثيلية، مثل ليلى مراد ووردة.
