13. If A = x - y + z, B = 2x - 3y +4z and C = 4x - 5y - 6z, find

(i) A+B+C

(ii) AB+ C

(iii) A+B-C

14. Simplify:

(i) a + 2b3c4ab+ 2c

(iii) (a² + 2a + 1) - (b² + 2a -1)

(ii) 1+m-3nm+21+ 3n + 2m

Addition
There are 2 marbles + 3 marbles = 5 marbles in a bowl. Let 'x' be the number of marbles. Thus, 2x + 3x = 5x. Similarly, 4 buttons + 1 button + 3 buttons = 8 buttons. Let 'y' be the number of buttons. Thus, 4y + y + 3y = 8y.

But, if there are 2 marbles + 3 buttons that is 2x + 3y, then this remains as it is.

Terms 2x and 3y cannot be added together.

Think about the processes involved in each operation. 2x + 3x = (2 + 3)x = 5x (2 + 3 = 5. x stands for marbles, so, 5 marbles.) y stands for buttons, so, 8 buttons.)
