In this video, we will show you the two common chassis options for the PowerEdge R240. There is a total of 3 options which are: 2 Bay LFF Cabled, 4 Bay LFF Cabled, and 4 Bay LFF Hot-swap. In this video specifically, we will be showcasing the 2 Bay LFF Cabled and 4 Bay LFF hot-swap chassis. There are not very many differences between the different chassis aside from the differences in bay counts and how drives are connected. Each R240 chassis accepts 3.5” drives, and there is no 2.5” option. Drives for the 2 Bay chassis are also cabled onto the motherboard, while the 4 Bay supports hot-swap drives. The 2 Bay LFF cabled chassis has two total PCIe slots. The 4 Bay LFF Hot-swap chassis also has two PCIe slots, but it also has an additional PCIe slot that is dedicated for the RAID controller. Another difference between the two chassis is that the 2 Bay chassis has one cabled power supply while the 4 Bay chassis supports up to two hot-swap power supplies. The cooling fans for the 4 Bay chassis are also larger than the fans in the 2 Bay chassis.
