In 2021, everything we thought was secure came crashing down. I lost my job, we had no income, and within weeks we were selling our house, our cars — everything.

We didn’t know what we were doing, but we knew one thing: we couldn’t go back to the system that broke us. So we took a leap. We found a block of land in Northland, NZ, packed up our two boys, and moved off-grid.

This is the story of how that moment — the scariest of our lives — became the start of something better.

We’re building a permaculture homestead from scratch, reconnecting with the land, and trying to live a life that feels more joyful, more present, and more ours.
