Alie Chandler, MM, MT-BC is a Neurologic Music Therapist and Owner/Director of Ossia Music Therapy, LLC. She has a master’s degree in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University and has been a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) since 2002. She is also the developer/author of an innovative therapeutic e-program, Sing For Speech©: Daily Expressive Language Exercises. For over 23 years, she has worked with clients of all ages in NY, CT, and NC, including the American Institute for Neuro-Integrative Development (Giant Steps School), the Music Therapy Institute of Westchester, and Westchester Medical Center. With a passion for research, she was the music therapist for a research team at Duke University Hospital for a study on resilience in adolescents with cancer, the SMART study by Dr. Sheri Robb and Dr. Deb Burns. Alie has published research on music therapy and autism and has presented nationally. She is trained in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT), improvisational music therapy methods, and completed the Allied Team Training for Parkinson's. She has worked with the world-wide Virtual Connections for Aphasia and the Triangle Aphasia Project, and has focused on communication and language throughout her career. Alie greatly enjoys her private practice work with individuals with a variety of neurological needs, including dementia, aphasia, stroke and brain injury, Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases, and Autism and developmental differences. She also provides training and consultation for professional and caregiver organizations to enhance creative care within healthcare systems.
