On Tuesday, Notre Dame Football Head Coach Marcus Freeman met with members of the media to discuss the upcoming game with Miami at Hard Rock Stadium.

Irish Illustrated was in attendance and compiled highlights of the event.

Coach Freeman explained why he named CJ Carr the starting quarterback over Kenny Minchey, stating that it was a close statistical competition and that it ultimately came down to a gut feeling.

He was also asked what Minchey did so well to make it a close competition, and Freeman praised his decision-making, arm strength, and leadership.

Since Freeman became the DC of the Notre Dame team, the Irish have opened every single game on the road, including contests against Ohio State, Texas A&M, and now Miami. He broke down why his team embraces that challenge.

And finally, Freeman was asked about what he had seen from Minchey since he broke the news to Minchey that Carr was the starter. Freeman said that he has seen disappointment from Minchey, which is to be expected, but that it has also helped fuel Minchey's motivation, and that he will be ready when his number is called.
