Описание к видео Why is my 7 week old refusing to breastfeed, but will take a bottle and a pacifier?

You mentioned that you have a little baby boy that's about 7 weeks, and it sounds like he hasn't been nursing well for the last couple of days. He'll cry and scream, suck a few times, and then pull off. But he is taking bottles from dad, so hopefully he's getting the nutrition he needs. It is possible for babies to go through temporary nipple strikes - that's what we call them - and for a couple of days, they just don't take well to sucking. But usually it applies to not just the breast, but also bottles and pacifiers, so there might be other issues at play here. If it goes on for more than a couple of days, or you feel like he's not getting enough to eat, in the meantime, call the pediatrician as soon as possible, and they'll be able to ask you more specific questions, perform an exam, and decide if further investigation or treatments are necessary. There could very well be other reasons for his crying, especially since he's eating from a bottle.

One other thing to consider is that sometimes babies are lazy suckers, meaning that if they get used to a bottle, then they don't like to nurse because it's not instant flow. When a baby latches on, they need to suck for sometimes it's as little as 30 seconds, sometimes it's as great as 2 to 3 minutes before the mother's body lets the milk down. So in other words, babies have to be patient. They need to suck a few times before the milk will come. But when they drink a bottle, it's instant flow, so if a baby has gotten used to that, then sometimes they can get frustrated at the breast.

One thing you might try is pumping to get your body to the point where it's letting down, and then latch your son on, and see if that makes a difference. And if it does, then that might be the problem. And if you just work with him, and you're consistent and persistent about continuing to nurse him, then hopefully you'll get through this and it will just be a phase. But again, if you feel like it's affecting his ability to eat, and then ultimately causing dehydration, and affecting his ability to grow, you should involve your pediatrician who can look into it. Good luck with everything, and if you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at   / intermountainmoms  , and recommend us to your friends and family too.
