Brora: Story of a Golf Club

We kick start out 2020 Scotland tour, with Brora Golf Club; Story of a Golf Club! This James Braid classic, that sits largely untouched since 1923 has gained cult status among the global golfing world in recent years. The charm of its remote location, roaming cattle, relaxed and informal feel and simple classic links layout proving too much for our friends in the US to ignore! Our story is very different however, it is about survival and the kindness of the golfing community who have helped this special place, 20 miles north of Royal Dornoch, survive a difficult and trying year with visitor income drying up as a result of the pandemic.

With thanks to quick thinking from the club with their merchandise sales and country and international membership, and the support of No Laying Up, the outlook for Brora is positive. This story is testament to the strength of the golfing community, and its desire to see golf clubs like Brora, that are the heart of the local community, to continue to thrive for future generations to enjoy!
