FIX No Crank No Start IMMOBILIZER SEE MANUAL Volvo S40 Low Brake Fluid Stop Safely failure

Описание к видео FIX No Crank No Start IMMOBILIZER SEE MANUAL Volvo S40 Low Brake Fluid Stop Safely failure

READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION. My brother was driving a 2006 Volvo S40 over some bumpy roads and when he got to his destination he was not able to restart the car. Basically the windshield wipers turned on at the highest setting and he received the following messages on the display. "Low Brake Fluid Stop Safely" and "Immobilizer see manual". When he turned the key it would not crank at all as if the starter was dead. The brake fluid was at the correct level and brakes worked fine.

When searching on-line some folks have said it could be a weak battery but that was not the case because it was fairly new. If you had a old battery you can usually have it tested for free at most auto parts stores.

The second thing some people said was that the ignition module that you put the key in can go bad. I did not think that would be it because supposedly if they go bad then you cannot take the key out. Also if you cannot take out the key if there is no power going to the module. So if you cannot take out your key then check the fuses, all connectors and then you may have to check and make sure the connector to the module is tight (in the dash). One my old S40 I did a test and when I unplugged the module I could not take the key out. One I plugged it back in I was able to take it out. Usually this would be tested last anyways.

The third thing most people mentioned is that there can be water or corrosion on the CEM or fuse box that is on the passenger side footwell under the dash. When I went to check on the fuses and relays to make sure that none were blown I noticed that one connector was not fully plugged or snapped in. When I plugged it in then went to start the car it was fine. Sometimes driving over bumpy roads will loosen the connection enough. Sometimes your passenger may kick it accidentally and loosen it. If your connectors are tight then check the fuses and make sure none are blown and that your relays are good. If they look good then check for any water damage or corrosion.

If you have any questions please see your dealer. These are just my 2 cents.

Thanks

Below is a link to a 2006 Volvo S40 Owners Manual that shows you how to gain access to the Fuse panel on the passenger side. It is on page 181 but I would probably read the entire section.

Additional Notes. This is something that can happen to any of the following models and years unless Volvo redesigned something.
Volvo S40 / C30 / V50 / C70 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 and 2012 but depending on the model since some were not produced in each year. When the car wont start or has a No Crank No Start situation, the immobilizer message can be confusing at first because not everyone knows what can go wrong especially when you get other messages like the low brake fluid alert.
