KIDNEY CYST

A kidney cyst is a fluid-filled sac that grows in your kidneys, which are the bean-shaped organs that filter wastes out of your bloodstream to produce urine. You may have a single cyst or many on one kidney or both.

TYPES:

Simple cortical cyst:

Simple cortical cysts are typically discovered incidentally and are easily diagnosed upon cross sectional imaging. Such cysts are often detected during a kidney or abdominal ultrasound, and can generally be diagnosed with certainty using this modality. Intravenous iodine or gadolinium contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Polycystic kidney disease:

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a genetic condition marked by the growth of numerous cysts (fluid-filled sacs) in the kidneys. The cysts become larger and the kidneys enlarge along with them. Slowly, the kidneys lose their ability to filter waste from the blood, which leads to progressive loss of kidney function and eventually to kidney failure.

CREATININE

Creatinine is a waste product of the body and is produced mainly through muscle activity. It’s normal for everyone to have some creatinine present in their blood. But it can’t just stay there. Like other waste products, the creatinine in your bloodstream has to be removed. This is a job for your kidneys: they filter creatinine out from your blood and excrete it from the body in urine.
