In the early hours of Thursday June 24th 2021 tragedy struck when an inhabited twelve story condo building partially collapsed in Miami, Florida. Stunning aerial imagery provides an exceptional look and helps understand the events that unfolded that night. Raw drone video footage filmed in the aftermath shows the high rise residential building in ruins with half of its façade missing and turned into rubble. Most news outlets worldwide are reporting as of today June 27th that nine people have been found and declared deceased. An approximate additional 150 people are missing three days after the collapse and are feared dead in what could be one of the deadliest man-made accidents in recent American history. The building located at the corner of Collins Ave and 88th Street in the Surfside suburb of the Floridian metropolis is now the epicenter of a relentless search and rescue operation. Crews have looked for survivors recklessly for the past hundred hours and saved at least two people from the debris. Other outlets also report that intermittent tapping was heard coming from the rubble but later faded away. This apartment complex called the Champlain Towers is composed of multiple similar  buildings adjacent to each other. In the moments after the collapse at 1:20 am local time, over 30 people were rescued from the building. The tower that partially collapsed is the South tower located on the south side of 88th Street. The ocean facing side is the one with visible damage as seen in this self explanatory aerial footage. Debris were thrown in the distance and landed near a trail running along the beautiful beach side. The city of Miami has taken drastic measures in the past hours such as the inspection of numerous older buildings as well as declaring a state of emergency. Among the dozens of emergency and rescue services deployed at the scene, engineers will start performing a thorough investigation starting tomorrow.
