One of the most popular shots in macro photography right now is of growing Mushrooms. Long exposure is essential to capture this kind of macro image. Thankfully, mushrooms are very fast-growing and if you move with speed (a speed that doesn’t exceed 1 mm/sec.), you can capture time-lapse in seconds. This particular fungus is called Phallus luteus belonging to the stinkhorn family of fungi. Found mainly in Asia, it is typified by a phalluslike, ill-smelling fruiting body. Stinkhorns produce odors that attract the flies and other insects that assist in dispersing the reproductive bodies (spores).
