Friends Remember Man Killed In Oklahoma City Hit-And-Run Crash

Friends are rallying around the family of a man killed in a hit-and-run in SW Oklahoma City.

Eberardo Nievez, a staff member at US Grant High School died Wednesday night.

Friends and coworkers said he was riding his bike to his second job when he was hit by a driver who left the scene.

They said he took that second job to help his family, including one of his daughters who is set to graduate from high school this week.

Police were called to a stretch of SW 63rd Street near Western Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Nievez worked as a library assistant at US Grant High School.

His legacy is being remembered by his coworkers, who started a GoFundMe to help with the funeral expenses.

Those coworkers said they received a cake delivery this week after he died for teacher's appreciation week. It was a cake Nievez ordered as a surprise for his colleagues.

"It's so devastating for them, and I, it's heartbreaking," said his coworker Melanie Berry. "That's not even, it doesn't even express the pain I know they're going through, but it's all the words I have to say."

The coworkers said his family told them that Oklahoma City Police had arrested the driver.

That driver's name has not been released.
