Hyena + Water = Crazy Hyena

We encountered this Spotted Hyena enjoying a good bath at Chudop Waterhole in Etosha National Park. It seems as though the water must have loosened his screws a bit because shortly after entering the water he started displaying some really strange behavior! Definitely one of the more entertaining hyena sightings that we have had the pleasure of witnessing!

The Spotted Hyaena (Crocuta crocuta) is well know for taking a dip to cool off from the hot African sun! Spotted Hyena have even been seen diving to the bottom of waterholes to pluck meat of submerged carcasses!
