Engines are back in the 2026 Dodge Charger lineup and we spent 1 Week with the Sixpack ScatPack Coupe coming in at $68,355 after options ($54,995 MSRP). The new Charger does not suffer in the visual department with its bold, wide, and muscular shape, coupe or sedan flavors, and honestly solid interior. But does the combustion engine solve the Daytona EVs issues? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, how was it?

Overall, I was impressed. This is not a “sports” car like a Mustang, it’s a sport-y grand tourer… aka a muscle car, and the 550HP Inline-6 does fix A LOT. It’s 1,000lbs lighter than the EV, the sound, vibrations, and feel of the engine is very welcome. It’s also very quick, can be RWD, can drift, can do burnouts (all with exhaust smoke and sound).. It’s a Dodge again. It’s not perfect though. The driving position is unusually high, due to the hybrid EV/ICE platform design, and our sports seats had a lumbar glitch the whole week. It’s also extremely wide on the road though it manages its weight well with quick and precise steering, a shocking quiet and refined cabin on the highway, and did I mention it’s really fast? Dodge is almost there with this new gen Charger and this is a major step in the right direction.
