We take a look at Deep Purple performing "Space Truckin" live in 1973, near the temporary end of Mark II lineup. Originally thought this was at Felt Forum. but we're told it actually happened at Hofstra University, on Long Island.
Deep Purple's Mark II lineup consisted of:

Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar: Known for his innovative guitar playing and distinct sound, Blackmore was a driving force behind the band's musical direction.

Ian Gillan - Vocals: Gillan's powerful and versatile voice added a new dimension to Deep Purple's music, contributing to their signature sound.

Roger Glover - Bass: Glover provided a solid and melodic bass foundation to the band's music, complementing the rest of the members.

Jon Lord - Keyboards: Lord's virtuoso keyboard skills, especially on the Hammond organ, were a defining element of Deep Purple's sound.

Ian Paice - Drums: Paice's powerful and precise drumming anchored the band's rhythm section, contributing to their dynamic live performances.

In 1973, this lineup was at the peak of its creative output. They released the highly successful album "Machine Head," which featured legendary tracks like "Smoke on the Water" and "Highway Star." The album's recording was notably done in Montreux, Switzerland, where a fire at the Montreux Casino (during a Frank Zappa concert) inspired the famous song "Smoke on the Water."

The Mach II lineup's live performances during this time were renowned for their energy, musicianship, and improvisational prowess. They toured extensively, showcasing their musical chemistry and delivering powerful concerts that solidified their reputation as one of the leading rock bands of the era.
