Your GoPro camera is waterproof down to 10 metres but with this accessory you can go much deeper than that and its waterproof ratings go much deeper than most recreation diving limits - 30 metres for advanced scuba divers and 40 metres for the ones with Deep diving specialisation. This accessory is waterproof down to 60 metres so it offers more than enough for most scuba divers.

Whenever you are going to risk that your camera can get damaged its always better to risk a 50$ accessory rather than the camera itself, so even if you scratch your camera or damage it with this accessory then you only lose a housing and in majority of cases your camera gonna be perfectly fine.
If you are considering some cheaper alternatives from 3rd party companies then you can but i honestly think that if you are a scuba diver then you really need to pay more for quaiity as its a solid product.
