YVONNE ELLIMAN If I Can't Have You DIGITAL VISIONS 2015 RE-EDIT VIDEO

A wonderfully remixed and vibey rework of the classic 1978 smash from Yvonne Elliman. DJ Freddy DJ has done a sterling job on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack song that gave its singer her biggest chart success around the world. Whilst not as successful here in Australia than it was in America, 'If I can't have you' penned by the Brothers Gibb and initially recorded by them, the song has been covered countless times, but there is something so compelling about the Yvonne Elliman version. It is exactly 40 years since this recording entered the local charts downunder on its way to the Top 10. Creating a clip from the Digital Visions remix was very tricky. As with the other Elliman clips i have recently posted, the performances were quite different to the recorded ones, making a re-edit hazardous! I've used 2 different clips to try and make this extended video work. It's not perfect - far from it, but the great mix warranted some effort and to pay homage to Yvonne Elliman - an artist who shone brightly for a few years, but despite attempted comebacks, she remains a 70's disco artist - which doesn't tell the story of the talent and versatility of the singer's discography.
