NEW FOREST WALK : HURST CASTLE (BY FERRY) & KEYHAVEN (NEW FOREST NATIONAL PARK) [4K]

In this episode of my series “ New Forest Walks”, I visit Hurst Castle which is located South of Keyhaven on the coast just inside the New Forest National Park. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.

I park my car at a car park at Keyhaven and start my adventure by taking the little ferry, from the harbour, that goes directly to Hurst Castle which is situated at the far end of Hurst Spit.

After investigating the lighthouse nearby, I head on in to the castle and have a lot of fun exploring what is in fact a very historic building. There had been some storm damage to the castle 18 months previously which meant that part of it was “off limits” to visitors – but the admission price had been reduced slightly to reflect the position.

After a brief stop at the castle cafe, I head back to Keyhaven along the magnificent Hurst Spit which provides some splendid views of the Isle of Wight & the Solent. The total distance of walking was just over 2 miles (for those that prefer not to take on the shingle walk of the Spit, there is always the option of taking the ferry back!

Both the ferry & the castle are dog friendly.
