The Siege of Tel al-Zaatar (Arabic language: معركة تل الزعتر) was a lengthy armed engagement between the Christian Right Wing Lebanese Front and the Muslim Left Wing Lebanese National Movement allied with the Palestine Liberation Organization that took place during the Two Years War phase (1975-1976) of the Lebanese Civil War. Sieges on Palestinian refugee camps by the Lebanese Front began in January in places like Karantina, Nabaa and the surrounding areas around Dekwaneh like Tel al-Zaatar, who's siege was tightened by April and by June full blown assaults on the camps by the Front commenced, bringing total destruction to Lebanon's then largest refugee camp that ended by August of that year. Total number of dead range from 2,200 and 4,280, including civilians and infant mortality, with 1,500 surrendered Fedayeen (PLO) troops executed on the day of the camps fall on the 12th of August.

Another one of Bechar al-Asmar's Tal as-Zaatar cadences, this song comes from the original French song of the same name, sung by the artist Salida in 1970. The true meaning of the words "Darla Dirladada" are unknown, but it is believed that the song originates from a Greek folk song from tje Island of Kalymnos, likely a work song for sponge divers.
