Preface to lyrical ballads :-

It published in 1800 by wordsworth,as a guideline to the readers . It explains about how we ( readers) want to approach lyrical ballad , a new form of poetry.

1798, people were neo classical readers. so the new form seems difficult for them to digest.Lyrical Ballads is a collection of poems which explains the nature, with common language. But neo classical writers often write in decorated language with certain rules & regulations , the people were used to this usage. That is why wordsworth giving a preface to their work.
