Living Well with ALS: Navigating Genetic Insights and Testing

Описание к видео Living Well with ALS: Navigating Genetic Insights and Testing

ALS United Greater Chicago invites you to join us for the next installment of our Living Well with ALS series.

This program offers a comprehensive look at the genetic aspects of ALS, aimed at patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. It begins with an introduction to ALS, detailing its nature, prevalence, and demographics. The program then delves into the basics of genetics, explaining genes, DNA, and heredity, and discusses common ALS-associated mutations.

Tara Jones (she/her) is a genetic counselor specializing in neuromuscular disease and dementia at Cedars-Sinai. She has a special place in her heart for families affected by FTD and ALS, and makes herself available to at-risk family members of her familial patients. Tara has worked in dementia care settings and has family members with the disease, so she is uniquely equipped with skills to communicate with patients with cognitive and physical disabilities.

Our speaker will be available for a Q&A session with attendees following the presentation. This virtual event is free of charge. For questions about the program, contact Joumana Fawaz-Baroody, RN, BSN at [email protected].
