Because of mistaken beliefs and seperations that arise from them, we often aren't in touch with what we truly desire. Nonduality points to the fact that we are already what we desire. We often feel pressured to want things out of a fear of death or insignificance, out of wanting love from other people or self acceptance, or we use our observations of others to define for us what is desirable and what is undesirable. Wanting what you don't TRULY want creates resistance.

A more refined spiritual strategy of avoiding desire because we believe it's a trap and equate it with suffering and desiring to be free of desire, can cut us off from our own creative life force. That is the Desire we are born out of and truly desire to return to, and the good news is that it is already the Awareness and Source that we intimately are. When we allow desire, big or small, rather than avoiding, we are able to see right to the heart and we desire desire.
