In this jam-packed webinar we join experienced automotive sculptor Nick Graveley as he shows how to use Gravity Sketch with scanned imported reference data using traditional automotive modelling thinking and techniques.

Nick is Founder of Claymoto and Grav.design. Since 2003 Nick has delivered clay modelling services to clients around the world. Nick is one of the world’s leading specialists in motorcycle design development in clay and VR.

As a graduate of Coventry University’s prestigious Transport Design (MDes) course, Nick started his career as a designer for India’s third largest motorcycle producer, TVS Motor Company. There, he worked on production and concept motorcycles, and in 2006 won two “Concept of the Year” design awards for the Isotope 200 concept. That same year Nick realised that the best part of his job was getting his hands dirty, and that he was far better suited to developing motorcycles in clay. This motivated him to move towards clay modelling contracting, and in 2006 he took his first freelance contract as a modeller at BMW in Munich, and hasn’t looked back. Since then, he has worked for many of the world’s leading OEMs, modelling motorcycles and car exteriors/interiors.

In 2017, Nick discovered Gravity Sketch but it wasn’t until 2020 that he bought his first VR setup, which was a pivotal moment. He found that many of his physical modelling skills could be directly translated into the VR subd modelling process. Since then, Nick has founded Grav.design, through which he teaches his modeller’s focussed perspective of Gravity Sketch, bringing it into professional workflows as a serious concept modelling tool.

Nick grew up in the UK, but has dual British and American citizenship. He currently lives just outside Munich with his German wife, and 2 daughters.
