The Psalm of Nephi - from "A Joy Beyond Measure" (by CJ Madsen)

Over the next few weeks, I'll be posting songs from an album I released on CD in 2016, "A Joy Beyond Measure." This is an album of hymn arrangements composed around the period I served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Before my mission, a good of friend of mine shared how much she loved 2 Nephi 4, which contains "The Psalm of Nephi." This beautiful poem details love and trust in the Lord, even when things are unsure and difficult. Throughout my mission I got snatches of inspiration for a musical setting of the Psalm, and these snatches coalesced into a song shortly after I returned home in 2014. It represents my personal testament to the power of Christ that I felt as His missionary.
