This turned out to be a troublesome walk! Weather was ok and I was keen to do a short stretch of the Cotswold Way. I thought to start just west of Ebley Mill on the Stroudwater Canal path, where the canal and surrounding buildings look very picturesque. The Cotswold Way leads down between the houses to cross the River Frome on a small stone bridge. However, I discovered the bridge is shut with fencing to prevent access. I walked back towards Ebley Mill where filming was problematic with pedestrians and many parked cars - apologies in advance for the bitty nature of the filming here. The path goes behind Ebley Mill and crosses the river on another handsome stone bridge. Looking left on the bridge, you see the back of Ebley Mill. There are some fields between here and the busy A419 where the walking was quite pleasant. I was now on a footpath rather than the Cotswold Way and found that I had to cross the busy A419 with no pedestrian crossing facilities. Once over, the path climbs a little uphill through farmland. There were a few fields to cross and the path wasn't always obvious (to me anyway). There were some tricksy stiles to cross too (lots of nettles, unstable boards :|) I found myself on a track above Redhill Farm and from there it's a short walk across a field or two before you reach Selsley West. The path passes very close to two houses so I've skipped some sections here for privacy. Across the (much quieter) road between Selsley and Middleyard to start quite a steep climb through a cattle field and a short section of forest before accessing the common. At this point, I hadn't realised there was the tail end of a strap waving over the top of the camera - again, apologies for this distraction. The walk continues uphill for a short distance before flattening out along one of the contour lines. I walked as far as the Cotswold Way marker with Pen Hill Woods in the background. I did the return walk, this time on the Cotswold Way and you can find that as Walk with me 17.
I've deleted any human interaction and blanked residential dwellings and cars so the video will pause / skip at times.
