UN Security Council Votes to Support AUSSOM Mission in Somalia | News Today | AM1E
On December 27, 2024, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution authorizing the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). This new mission will replace the larger African Union anti-terrorism operation starting January 1, 2025. The vote saw 14 members in favor and 1 abstention, with the United States expressing concerns about long-term financing.
