1920s - 30s CF Martin A Style Mandolin made for the Oliver Ditson Company Boston NYC. Oliver Ditson (1811-1888) was an early American music publisher. Obviously his name was carried with his company long after his death in 1888. Back then music companies would put their name on instruments built by luthiers.

This instrument came into my possession from a friend of Andrea Elaine Knuips.
This was her husband’s instrument, husband was an organist by musical background.

It has a few cracks, and I will not tune to the standard tuning to save it. But I make a point to play it at least once a year (and then I release the string tension). It is nice to keep these instruments beyond our own existence.

In the background of this video is another vintage instrument a 1927 Weymann Brothers Model 112 Ukulele (SN 40518 - Philadelphia) gifted to me by the late Robert Wheeler, Founder of Ukulele Consciousness.
