The new statue named ‘Muthu Malai Murugan’ at Vanapadi, a village in Salem have six feet taller than the Batu Caves statue and will feature an 80-foot-long spear (vel).

‘Tiruvarur’ Thiyagarajan, the designer who worked on the Batu Caves Murugan statue in Malaysia, is the same person entrusted to design the new Murugan statue in Salem as well.

The construction of the statue is funded by a businessman from Attur and will be built on his own land.
