Maryam Namazie is a true pioneer of the growing ex-Muslim movement. The Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain (CEMB), which she started more than a decade ago, now has thousands of members worldwide and assists hundreds of ex-Muslims every year. In 2015, the CEMB launched the unexpectedly viral #ExMuslimBecause movement, and last year, Maryam’s organization hosted the largest gathering of ex-Muslims to date, in London. She will be joining us on the podcast to talk about her work; the progress she has seen and obstacles she has faced over the last decade or two; and where the movement stands in today’s polarized political climate.
