Onboard TUI flight 7248 from Birmingham to Zakynthos on the 1st July 2025. The allocated aircraft changed multiple times in the days leading up due to TUI reshuffling their fleet across UK bases and across the Birmingham schedule to reduce delays. So it changed from multiple of TUI's -800s and finally settled for G-TUKT, a 14 year ex-Norwegian 737-8JP which was inbound from Reus, Spain. Birmigham airport wasn't too busy as it wasn't the school holidays but there was an overwhelming amount of building work going on for the future expansion of the airport. High praise to the security staff who actually treated us like human beings, unlike our old friend Stansted. A busy flight, but not full. A couple of empty aisle seats dotted around. Turn the volume up during takeoff for some fantastic -800 engine sounds and step by step climb thrust changes. Once airborne, flight time of just over 3 hours. The lovely cabin crew let me do the rubbish round as usual and paid me with chocolate buttons which were all gone in a matter of minutes. Some lovely views as we cruised including views of Paris, and parts of Italy before we descended over the Adriatic sea towards the Ionian Islands and reasonably positive touchdown onto 34 at Zaknythos Dionsios Sal. International Airport with a clap and a cheer from some rowdy teen holiday makers a few rows behind me. The Captain had to use a fairly agressive break setting due to the shorter runway which had some people grappling the seats infront and the armrests during the landing roll. Once on stand, a trip to the cockpit to meet the pilots.
