After a lengthy search, the Browns announced the hiring of the former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator on Jan. 28. The other finalists were Cleveland's defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase.

The 59-year-old Monken arrived in Berea on Friday and was captured on social media being greeted by GM Andrew Berry, managing partner JW Johnson, and quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Monken will replace two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski, who was let go of his duties as Browns head coach on Jan. 5 after posting a 46-58 record with two playoff appearances. An 8-26 mark over the past two seasons ultimately did in Stefanski in Cleveland, and he was hired as the Atlanta Falcons' new head coach on Jan. 17.
