Self-employed persons, will be provided direct cash assistance under the Self-Employed Person Income Relief Scheme (SIRS). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Heng Swee Keat highlighted that the new extension of SIRS will automatically include self-employed persons who also earn a small income from employment work. He added that the current Annual Value threshold will be raised from up to $13,000 to up to $21,000, so that more people can qualify. With these new enhancements, self-employed persons who are eligible for the scheme will receive three payments of $3,000, starting from May 2020.
