Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed leg-spinner Raghu Sharma as a replacement for the injured Vignesh Puthur ahead of their IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals on May 1. Puthur has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a bone stress reaction in both shins.

Raghu Sharma, a 32-year-old right-arm leg-break bowler from Punjab, has represented Punjab and Puducherry in domestic cricket. He has taken 57 wickets in 11 first-class matches at an average of 19.59, with best figures of 7/56. In List A cricket, he has claimed 14 wickets in 9 matches, with best figures of 4/37. He has also featured in 3 T20 matches, picking up 3 wickets.

Sharma was previously part of MI’s support bowling group and has been signed at his base price of ₹30 lakhs from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list.

With four matches remaining in the league stage, MI will be looking to Sharma to bolster their bowling attack as they aim for a playoff spot.
