The River Thames Scheme weir animation video

Описание к видео The River Thames Scheme weir animation video

The River Thames Scheme (RTS) is a significant infrastructure project that is designed to reduce the risk of flooding for communities along the River Thames.

This animation focuses on the downstream measures of the scheme, particularly focusing on how the weirs will be used to manage water levels.

The scheme proposals will be adding extra gates to existing weirs at Sunbury, Molesey and Teddington. These new gates will create a new pathway for water to flow, reducing the pressure on the existing gates and lowering water levels upstream.

The scheme will also lower the riverbed downstream of the Desborough Cut to increase the river's capacity to hold water.

The RTS will not increase flood risk for anyone living along the river. In fact, it's expected to better protect over 11,000 homes and 1,600 businesses from flooding.
