Описание к видео New Tools in the Peacebuilding Toolbox: Impartial Observation and Nonviolent Action

This panel discusses two relatively recent innovations in peacebuilding: the use of impartial observers to monitor peace agreements, and the use of nonviolent action by grassroots actors to push armed actors to peace and keep peace agreements on track for long-term positive political change. While both tools have longer histories, there is still much that is poorly-understood about their connections to peacebuilding. We discuss independent observation in the context of Colombia and Mali, and nonviolent action in the context of Sudan as well as in broader cross-national research. The panel will conclude with a general discussion about cutting-edge innovations in peacebuilding.
