The history of the Kunindas is documented from around the 2nd century BCE. They are mentioned in Bharatiya epics and Puranas. Amoghbhuti was one of the kings of the Kuninda, who ruled in the mountainous valley of the Sutlej and Yamuna rivers. The Kuninda was a warrior clan, mentioned in ancient texts with several names; Kauninda, Kulinda and Kaulinda. Their coins have been found mostly in the Himalayan foothills between the river Sutlej and Yamuna. The Kunindas were therefore neighbours of the Kuluta and Trigarta.
