তিনি ছিলেন একজন ঔপন্যাসিক, ছোটগল্পকার, নাট্যকার, গীতিকার, চিত্রনাট্যকার এবং চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাতা। বিংশ শতাব্দীর জনপ্রিয় বাঙালি কথাসাহিত্যিকদের মধ্যে অন্যতম একজন হুমায়ূন আহমেদ।

তাকে স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ লেখক বলে গণ্য করা হয়। বাংলা কথাসাহিত্যে সংলাপপ্রধান নতুন শৈলীর জনক তিনি। এছাড়া আধুনিক বাংলা বৈজ্ঞানিক কল্পকাহিনীর পথিকৃৎও তিনি। নাটক ও চলচ্চিত্র জগতেও তার ছিলো সরব বিচরণ। তার প্রকাশিত গ্রন্থের সংখ্যা তিন শতাধিক। তার অনেক গ্রন্থ পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন ভাষায় অনূদিত হয়েছে। এছাড়া বেশ কিছু গ্রন্থ স্কুল-কলেজ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাঠ্যসূচীর অন্তর্ভুক্ত। হুমায়ূন আহমেদ সৃষ্ট অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় দুটি চরিত্র হলো মিসির আলি এবং হিমু।

Short Biography of Humayun Ahmed in English:

Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi author, playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He was born on November 13, 1948, in Mohongonj, Netrokona, East Bengal, British India (now Bangladesh), and died on July 19, 2012, in New York City, United States.

Humayun Ahmed is widely regarded as one of the most popular and successful writers in the Bengali language. He authored over 200 books, including novels, short stories, and essays. Some of his notable works include "Nondito Noroke," "Shankhoneel Karagar," "Amar Ache Jol," "Devi," and "Megher Chaya."

In addition to his literary contributions, Humayun Ahmed also wrote and directed several films and television dramas. He was a professor of Chemistry at the University of Dhaka before turning to full-time writing and filmmaking. His works have been translated into many languages and have received critical acclaim both in Bangladesh and internationally.
