The Sci Guys: Science at Home - 10K Sub Bonus: Quantum Locking and Flux Pinning - Quantum Levitation

Описание к видео The Sci Guys: Science at Home - 10K Sub Bonus: Quantum Locking and Flux Pinning - Quantum Levitation

Welcome to science at home and our 10,000 subscriber bonus video. In this experiment we will be creating the effect known as quantum locking, flux pinning and sometimes as quantum levitation. When a superconductor is cooled with liquid nitrogen and placed into a magnetic field the phenomenon known as quantum locking or levitation occurs. Quantum locking or levitation is when a superconductor is held in space by a magnetic field. Calling Quantum Locking, levitation, isn't totally correct because when flipped upside down the superconductor will not fall. By the end of this video you will be able to describe what quantum locking is, how quantum locking is possible, the factors that make quantum locking possible and how to do the quantum locking experiment for yourself.
