There are no proven ways to reliably increase penis size other than surgery, and some methods can cause permanent damage. Surgical options include:
Penile augmentation
Involves injecting fat cells from elsewhere in the body into the penis to increase girth. This can add an average of 2.39–2.65 cm (0.94–1.04 in) after 12 months, but the graft can lose 20–80% of the new volume within 1 year. Side effects include swelling, distortion, disfigurement, scarring, lumpiness, and infection.
Suspensory ligament division
Involves cutting the suspensory ligament, which attaches the penis to the pubic bone, to add length.
Penuma implant
The only FDA-approved cosmetic surgical procedure to increase penis size. A 2018 study found that the Penuma device increased penis girth by an average of 56.7%.
Other surgical options include tissue grafts, hyaluronic acid injections, polylactic acid injections, and penile disassembly.
Studies have found mixed results in the safety, effectiveness, and patient satisfaction of penis enlargement surgeries. At best, surgery may slightly increase girth or make the non-erect penis appear slightly longer, but it does not change the actual length. At worst, surgery can result in complications such as infection, scarring, and loss of sensation or function.
Some physical techniques for penis enlargement include:
Pumping: A vacuum erection device (VED) creates negative pressure to expand the penis and draw blood into it.
Jelqing: A manual manipulation of simultaneous squeezing and stroking the shaft from base to corona.
Traction: A type of traction device, such as a penis extender.
