RICE LAKE — Fishing for Stocked Rainbow Trout in Low Water | North Vancouver, BC

Описание к видео RICE LAKE — Fishing for Stocked Rainbow Trout in Low Water | North Vancouver, BC

It's mid-fall, and that means the good people at GoFishBC / Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC have just stocked thousands of catchable size Fraser Valley Rainbow Trout in lakes all around Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

This was my first trip to Rice Lake this fall, and I was really surprised by how low the water was as well as how much of a tint the water had. I suspect that during the harsh drought conditions it was even lower, and the tint has come in with the heavy rains and rising level. Whatever the case, it made for surprisingly tough fishing.

I brought along two rods, and tried throwing spinners and spoons as well as float fishing with flies and artificial worms on small jigheads. I even did some bottom fishing Powerbait on a carolina rig. In the end the only thing I was able to get any bites on was the small 1/8oz Prime Lures "Wiggler" spoon. This spoon has been a trout slayer for me, landing me a lot of stocked Rainbows as well as producing a lot of sea run Cutthroat Trout.

In the end I managed to land a couple of fish, a solid way to spend a couple of hours in the sun.
