The rocky intertidal zone (0:13) is where the land meets the ocean, revealing a diverse community of life at low tide. Scientists study this area due to its high biodiversity in a small space (0:41) and to understand how human activities like pollution or trampling affect it (1:17).

Citizen science (1:41) involves volunteers working with scientists to collect data. This helps monitor ecosystems when there aren't enough professional scientists or funding (2:22). It also allows the public to engage with and understand changes in these important areas (2:34).
