HOW TO ROW AN EIGHT

A few different request to talk about eight rowing specifically so today we approach it a little differently. A little more of a commentary video, let me know what you think in the comments below.

I really believe that an eights speed is generated mostly from the catch and a predominantly leg driven stroke. There are many different techniques out there and certainly many ways to skin a cat so I'd recommend experimenting with your boat to see what works best!

On the flip side, other people believe that an eight can be rowed from the back end. I do think this can be a good place to sync up but I think that is all it is, a place to be in sync. That is what is most important in bigger boats. The rowing can be all over the place but if all the athletes are doing the same think, this can vmcrwate huge speed gains!
