The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) is a specialized unit of the Delhi Police, which is responsible for investigating cases related to financial frauds, economic offences, and white-collar crimes.

The EOW's primary mandate is to investigate cases of financial frauds, including cheating, forgery, and misappropriation of funds, among others. The unit also deals with cases related to cyber frauds, money laundering, and other economic offences that have a substantial financial impact on individuals or organizations.

For preparing to file an EOW case, some general steps that can be considered are:
i) Gather Evidence.
ii) Mention the bonafide circumstances under which the transaction happened.
iii) Do not hide facts.
iv) Mistake of both parties, relief is still possible.
v) Make a complaint.
vi) Follow up with the EOW.
vii) Be Patient and Cooperative

Now, in case the EOW is not registering an FIR, the remedy available is to approach the concerned District Magistrate u/s 156(3) of the CrPC seeking a direction to the EOW to register the FIR.

After registration of the FIR, the EOW would initiate preliminary enquiry and depending on the facts and circumstances of the case, the summons would be issued against the accused. After issuance of the summons, the statements of the accused will be recorded by the Investigating Officer (IO) and based on the evidence produced, an arrest can be made.
In case an arrest has been made or is likely to be made, reliefs available with the accused are that he can apply for regular/anticipatory bail or the accused can move an application under Section 482 CrPC for quashing of the FIR.
