"Super Rabbit," a B-25J-30-NC with serial number 44-86725, was delivered in June 1945 and later served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as RCAF 5243. After a long and distinguished military and post-military life, she is now proudly operated by the Oklahoma Museum of Flying. Fully restored and airworthy, she stands as a living tribute to the brave men and women who served aboard B-25s during the war.
The B-25 Mitchell itself is a symbol of American innovation and resilience. Designed as a medium bomber, it gained worldwide fame in 1942 when sixteen B-25s, led by Lt. Col. James Doolittle, launched from the deck of the USS Hornet in a daring surprise attack on Tokyo. The Doolittle Raid became one of the most celebrated missions of the war, marking the first airstrike on the Japanese home islands and lifting American morale after Pearl Harbor.
With nearly 10,000 B-25s produced and deployed in every theater of WWII, the Mitchell proved to be a versatile, rugged aircraft capable of bombing runs, ground attack, anti-shipping strikes, and even VIP transport. Few aircraft from that era remain flying today, and even fewer are as beautifully maintained and active as "Super Rabbit."
